Mike Amiri, an American-born fashion designer of Iranian descent, has taken the luxury fashion world by storm. Mike went from designing his first collection in the basement suite of a Thai restaurant to selling over $275,000 worth of garments within 3 hours of a 2017 pop-up shop at Maxfield, eventually moving on to establishing his brand at Paris Fashion Week, in 2020. Keep in mind, this all happened within a span of a few years.
Given that the label was only founded in 2014, Amiri has already made waves in luxury fashion, especially within pop culture, being worn by the likes of Odell Beckham Jr, Justin Bieber, Bella Hadid, and many more. It’s no shock that the brand has garnered such a large and loyal fan base, in such a short period of time. Amiri strives to create clothing to the most extraordinary standards, rather than the most economically sensible alternatives. The hand distressing of a single pair of jeans can take up to 3 months to complete. Tattered tee shirts and cashmere sweaters are taken to Joshua Tree, where they’re individually shotgun blasted to create the most natural and unreplicable distressing possible. Leather jackets are hand-painted and individually set with Swarovski crystals to produce show-stopping features.
